Quarter-Sawn Mahogany Tea Chest
this remarkable tea chest is beautifully veneered in quarter-sawn mahogany enriched with an exquisite silver handle to the lid. The tea chest contains two George III silver urn tea caddies and a single sugar vase hallmarked London and dated 1771. Each vase is decorated with tied floral swags above foliage lappets and a flared foot with a central crowned family crest depicting a dragon. The distinctive mark of the esteemed London silversmiths, Louisa Courtauld and George Cowles is located to the base.
