Regency Period Amboyna & Ebony Tilt Top Table Regency Period Amboyna & Ebony Tilt Top Table

A remarkable and beautifully drawn Regency period oval centre table in the manner George Bullock. The exceptionally worked, and unusually thin one piece amboyna tilt-top decorated with ebony cross banding and a central medallion of ebony and amboyna, the whole supported on a hexagonal tapering stem terminating in an architecturally designed tripod of outswept sabre legs on original and very unusual brass castors in the form of paw feet. The stem with further decorative panels consisting of a brass inlaid foliate design on an ebony ground, the stem and legs similarly strung in ebony.

This table displays all of the hallmarks associated with the very best craftsmanship and design synonymous with the High Regency period. It closely features many of the elements used by George Bullock during this time. The delicate use of ebony, brass and amboyna are generally associated with his work. The attention given to the elegant proportion and line is clearly executed by a master of cabinet work and design.
